Poverty in Asia: The Philippines is an installment of the program INSIGHT for the network Channel News Asia. It is a 50 minute video that discusses the impact of COVID on Manila (in particular). It is a good starting point for context about our situation.
The Philippines fell to last place in a ranking of countries in which to weather the pandemic. This article from September 29th highlights some of the challenges that led to the Philippines landing the lowest spot for “best and worst place to be in pandemic”.
Violent exchanges with police continue to be a sobering reality when moving around off site. This off duty killing in Tarlac has become an iconic example of the felt tensions we have been experiencing during these past 10 months of strong national police presence.

Latest Update

February 28, 2020:

The double cargo buildings that will be our school building are scheduled for delivery on March 8th. We will be able to work on interior finish work starting March 15th. Our goal is to have enough pieces in place to let the kids start in their new space at the end of the month!

This has been a long time dream for us on behalf of the children of this mission. Until now, learning activities have been taking place wherever we can carve a little space (such as on a mat at the play pad in the cool of the morning). We are so excited to be able to provide, through your partnership, a dedicated space that is safe, comfortable, and designed specifically to nurture creativity, curiosity, and healing.
